LOS ANGELES – February 9, 2022 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct that GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is now available to purchase on Nintendo Switch™, following its Early Access launch on PC via Steam® last Spring.

The company also announced that GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon will be leaving Early Access on Steam® soon, with version 1.0 launching on February 17, 2022.

After 1,000 years of peace, the seal to the gate of hell has been ripped open and a flood of evil spirits have been released into the world. As it stands at the brink of destruction, Getsu Fuma must take on the helm as the leader of his clan and delve into the pits of hell to rip out the evil at its core.

Co-developed by indie studio GuruGuru, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon features Ukiyo-e style roguelike action with a stunning dark fantasy world, brought to life through the stroke of traditional Japanese art. Players will descend into the Ukiyo-e style stages of the underworld while mastering an arsenal of weapons and equipment that can be paired to suit a variety of playstyles. The game offers highly strategic combat based on the spacing and timing aspects unique to Japanese martial arts. Fearsome bosses and ever-changing layouts will challenge players while allowing them to grow stronger with each attempt.

During GetsuFumaDen’s Early Access period the game has seen multiple updates and fixes, many of which were inspired by feedback from the Steam® Community, official Twitter, and official Discord server. New stages, characters, weapons, bosses (and more!) have been implemented in the past year and the full product is now available for new Nintendo Switch™ players to enjoy in its entirety. New content will continue to be added to GetsuFumaDen post-launch, so stay tuned!

A summary of game updates made during Early Access are as follows:

  • Added a new playable character – Getsu Renge
  • Added the Apprentice difficulty for players finding the game too challenging
  • Added new features e.g. ‘Dismantle’ and ‘Raise Equipment Rank’
  • Added a new stage, Subspace Citadel
  • Added new enemies including Subspace Citadel boss Daidarabotchi
  • Added the Hall of Treasures, allowing players to view their defeated enemies
  • Added a new main weapon, Whip

  • Various gameplay adjustments, bug fixes and quality of life improvements to balance gameplay

Fans of GetsuFumaDen will be able to purchase a digital Deluxe Edition on Switch™, which includes a digital artbook, original mini soundtrack and a port of the original Japanese Getsu Fūma Den Famicom game, never before released in the West.
