NIS America has announced they will be handling the Western release of the Nintendo Switch version of Crystar. I reviewed this game back when it released on the PlayStation 4, and have always felt it was one of the most underrated gems of that generation. This release will contain all the DLC content from previous release. NIS America have also announced a nice looking Limited Edition physical release that includes the following:

  • Special Soundtrack
  • “Recollection of Purgatory” Hardcover Art Book
  • Visual Diary
  • “The Sorrow of Rei” 17″ x 24″ Cloth Poster
  • “Weeping Warrior” Acrylic Stand
  • “Souls in Purgatory” Art Cards

Crystar for Nintendo Switch will release in the spring of 2022.

“I’m sorry Mirai, I’m going to take responsibility for killing you…I will bring you Revival.”

Rei and Mirai are sisters suddenly dragged into a mysterious world known as Purgatory. Rei discovers a hidden power allowing her to fight against the otherworldly monsters, but loses control and accidentally kills her sister Mirai. Crystar tells the story of Rei’s journey to atone and battle to bring Mirai back to life. This action RPG showcases its unique narrative through the use of four playable characters, each with their own special Guardian, as well as the use of the Tear Gauge and Torments.

It is with tears shed that you will revive the dead.

About Steve Baltimore

Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.
