Please Be Happy | May Illustration

A hearty hello to our girls’ love fanatics, Please Be Happy is finally coming with exciting details. You may recall the title and that’s because it’s from one of the brightest studios for English visual novels, Studio Élan. To clarify, they are responsible for one of the most captivating stories I’ve ever read named, Heart of the Woods. They’ve been working aplenty with upcoming titles like Lock & Key, and the mysterious Samayuuni. However, it’s time for something completely down to earth and exceedingly wholesome. Please Be Happy features wonderful characters, colorful scenery and UI, there’s so much to love. The title comes out later this year, but something special is coming with it. That’s right, full voice acting and it sounds amazing! Fortunately, you don’t have to just take my word for it. With the demo now available, and a special trailer thanks to Wholesome Direct, you can judge.

“I want to know what Please Be Happy is about. Can you tell me?”

Born as a fox in the forest of Korea, Miho carries with her the memory of a traveler who showed her kindness and spoke of home. Now more human than fox, Miho has spent a long, long time searching for her person. She arrives by airship to Wellington Skyport, one of the jewels of the floating island of New Zealand.

Despite her years spent observing humans, she still has a lot to learn about their culture and society. She’s made a living so far as a thief, her heightened senses allowing her to easily take advantage of people. She’s also seen a lot of the worst of what mankind has to offer.

It’s only after meeting Juliet, the owner of a small library, and Aspen, an aspiring novelist, that Miho starts to understand what kindness is, and that there’s more than just the bad stuff when it comes to people.

For the curious, here are the voice actors involved in Please Be Happy!

As the thread details, you can try the demo out either on Itch or Steam. As for me, I really hope I get the opportunity to play this. If you read my Heart of the Woods review, you’ll understand why.
