May 21st, 2021–MangaGamer Announces Distant Memoraĵo!

In Summer 2019, MangaGamer and SukeraSparo brought you The Expression: Amrilato, a heartwarming, and educational yuri visual novel that teaches readers Esperanto, as well as the meaning of communication.

Now comes Distant Memoraĵo—two new chapters in the tale of Rin and Ruka.

Not all endings are happily ever after, and language isn’t the only barrier to understanding. After choosing to remain in Ruka’s world, Rin begins to doubt her decision, haunted by memories of her best friend Yuuzu and others she’s left behind. Ruka, too, is troubled by Kanako, a classmate who seems to have it out for her. Unspoken thoughts, assumed feelings, and misunderstandings threaten to pry them apart as they face the challenges of communication involved in becoming more than just friends.

In the second chapter, we learn the tale of a distant past. Of a child and a young adult paired together by strange circumstances. This story of Rei and Ruka’s past will explore how the two met, why Rei took on the mantle of guardianship, and their attempts to understand one another across an age gap.

This charming and emotional tale of the struggles to connect and relate to one another will be coming soon to MangaGamer and Steam.

Distant Memoraĵo
Rin – An ordinary high school girl lost in a parallel reality that looks just like the Japan she knows, but where everybody speaks an unfamiliar language called “Juliamo.”

Coming to her aid are:
Ruka – An angelic girl who’s taken it upon herself to be Rin’s caretaker.
Rei – A woman with a bit of a mean streak.

In this sequel to The Expression Amrilato, we’ll get to see…

Their past together, unknown to Rin.
Their present together, unknown to all.

“Sometime in the future”
Rin spends her days torturing herself, still obsessed over the change in the color of the sky of this parallel world. As she agonizes over whether or not she should have returned home, cracks begin to form in her relationship with Ruka, her middle school-aged roommate. Haunted not only by thoughts of her old best friend Yuuzu, but now by the antagonistic Kanako and her gang as well… which future will Rin choose?

“Sometime in the past”
Rei fell into this parallel world as a middle schooler, but now she’s an adult taking on the responsibilities of a new job. One day, while busy getting ready for work, Rei encountered a young girl near the train station: Ruka. And so, Rei enthusiastically went through the formal process to become Ruka’s legal guardian. This is where we quietly raise the curtain on Rei ― a young entry-level librarian ― and her tumultuous life raising a belligerent grade schooler.
