In addition to the new launch date trailer above, they also released as special video message from series director, Hayato Konya:
The Samurai Shodown series was born back in 1993, and soon became known for its stunning characters fighting it out through intense battles. This latest entry in the series first launched on previous gen consoles in mid 2019. Fans had waited eleven years since the last game in the franchise. The latest entry is set in Japan during the 18th century, taking place three years prior to the events of the game that started the series. Classic concepts from the series return, like the Lightning Blade, Rage Gauge, and super special moves. Players can use their super special moves to turn the tide of battle.
Three new fighters join thirteen fan-favorite past characters, including:
- Shizumaru Hisame (from Samurai Showdown III)
- GONGSUN LI (from mobile game Honor of Kings)
More characters are available via season passes. The first two of these passes are already out, but the third season pass is set to arrive in February. You can find out more about the game at the official website. Below you can check out a handful of screenshots of Samurai Shodown in action on Xbox X / S.
