It seems a new game is coming to the Switch’s vast collection of classic arcade titles through HAMSTER Co.’s Arcade Archives. This title is one you’ve probably heard of as well as played, Konami’s Contra.

I’m sure many of you are familiar with the NES version of Contra, but this is the version of the game that could be found in the arcades. There are a few differences between the two versions, perhaps most notably the fact that arcade Contra is played on a vertical display rather than horizontal. Also, while the stage themes of the games levels are more or less the same, they’re quit different in layout. Finally, of course the graphics are considerable better in the arcade version. It should be noted that arcade Contra was also included in the Contra Anniversary Collection released by Konami last year.

Arcade Archives: Contra will be out for Nintendo Switch tomorrow, September 3rd, for $7.99 USD. Checkout the press release below for more information:

HAMSTER Co. The strongest warrior “CONTRA” Bill and Lance will challenge the destruction of the Earth invasion base of aliens, with their passion ” Toukon ” (Fighting Spirit) and their inborn guerrilla tactics.
In this work, the Japanese version and the overseas version of CONTRA are included.
