Ufotable, the anime studio known for working on many anime adaptations for the Fate/stay night series, is now under investigation for tax evasion by the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau. Investigators are taking a look at Ufotable cafe’s in Tokushima and Koenji as well as the company’s studio in Tokyo.

One of the aspects of the investigation, according to Bunshun publication, involves the sale of merchandise. The report states that income made from certain stores was not transferred to the company’s bank account. Rather, the money was taken directly by Ufotable president Hikaru Kondo in the form of cash.

A former investigator for the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau says the investigation could take about a year and prosecution and arrests are possible.
