It was revealed in issue #38 of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump that Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga will be ending in five chapters. Gintama started in 2004 and has a respectable run with 74 volumes and nearly 700 chapters. They are currently in the aftermath of the Silver Soul Arc, which is said to be the climax of the series. The anime is currently adapting the Silver Soul arc, and you can watch it on Crunchyroll.

Fans will remember Gintama for its large cast of memorable characters and the story’s ability to mix humor and drama to create stories that made you laugh as much as they made you cry.  If you are in Japan, the second live action Gintama movie just recently opened as well which will hopefully be as successful as the first movie was. Between the manga ending, Gintama Rumble, the movie, the anime adaptation of the Silver Soul arc, and the live-action online series, fans of this series have a lot of content to enjoy and look forward to. It’s safe to say, this series went out with a bang.
