Xenoblade Chronicles 2

It doesn’t seem that long ago when we at Operation Rainfall were fighting to get the original Xenoblade Chronicles to release in the U.S. But that effort has paid off, for both the fans and Nintendo. From Xenoblade Chronicles 2‘s release date on December 1st to December 31st, the game earned an astounding 1.06 million copies sold worldwide.

Putting things in perspective, the previous entry, Xenoblade Chronicles X, sold roughly 130,000 units in Japan alone. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sold 70% of its shipment its first week in Japan, nearing 100,000 copies. And in just a month, 1 million copies worldwide. Pretty impressive for a Japanese RPG on a fairly new console.

The trip through Alrest doesn’t stop there, though. Monolith Soft is still supporting Xenoblade Chronicles 2, with both free additions and through the Expansion Pass. This month marks the release of update version 1.3.0, which will add the “Advanced New Game Mode,” among other changes. An exact release date for the update hasn’t been announced, but hopefully we’ll know more by the middle of the month.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
