Episode 11: More Temple, More Kaguya, More Confusion!

Welcome back to more Mary Skelter Nightmares!

We start today’s episode by pointing out how I apparently cannot read maps before finally demonstrating the “Purge” minigame. Afterwards, we begin wandering the map again because I forgot that I had a key. Clearly, I am much better suited to Visual Novels. >_<

After finding the fourth treasure, we return to Kaguya in hopes of getting help in finding the fifth one only to learn she’s had it the entire time. The resulting argument has Kaguya running off and we have to save her from ghosts. You know the enemies from the City Streets?

Thankfully Kaguya agrees to help us after this and we proceed to map out the rest of Area 1.

Additional Thoughts and Notes

Once again my ability to overlook simple things comes back to bite me. I still can’t believe I forgot about that key.

That said, just in case anyone does think I’m being too hard on myself, I am having fun with the game. I just like to poke fun at my own flaws. Hey, if you can’t laugh at your own mistakes then what can you laugh at, right?

As for the rest of the episode, Kaguya’s reasoning does make sense and she is sympathetic. Granted she’s a bit of a jerk, but then again after going through what she has, I can understand. Also, we actually can use Kaguya at this point. I just didn’t navigate the menus correctly. She’ll be in action starting the next episode ^_^

Finally, let’s talk those map sizes. Since I can’t do math on the fly here’s a quick list of how large those maps were:

  • City Streets: 900 squares
  • Graveyard:  2,025 squares
  • Temple: 3,600 squares

As you can see, that’s a pretty big increase. So it does make sense why the Temple just seems massive. It really is. As such I’m probably going to have to start cutting out the scripted encounters (which I did a few times here) if we want to try and stick to an area every one to two days. We’ll play it by ear, but by now I think you know how to take down the enemies we’ve encountered so far.
