WarGroove | Combat

I normally don’t get excited by developers I’m not familiar with, but Chucklefish’s WarGroove has me utterly fascinated. Why, you ask? Well, not to belabor the obvious, but I’m a giant fan of Intelligent Systems’ Advance Wars games, and this looks like a spiritual successor to that fantastic series.

WarGroove | Map editor

Today during the PC Gaming Show, WarGroove showed off their mapmaking and sharing functionality. It looks pretty intuitive and simple to use. Much like Advance Wars, you will be able to use the campaign editor to make not only levels but full campaigns, including creation of such features as dialogue cutscenes and branching paths! If that doesn’t have tactical fans excited, I don’t know what will.

Combined with the sweet retro aesthetic and online and local multiplayer, WarGroove is slated to be one of my favorite games coming to the Nintendo Switch.
