Inti Creates has announced that Mighty Gunvolt Burst will be heading to the 3DS and Nintendo Switch consoles. This is the to sequel to Mighty Gunvolt, the bite-sized action game that launched with  Azure Striker Gunvolt back in 2014.

Here is an overview of the game straight from the press release:

Threads of fate are bound together in a strange new virtual world! The Mighty Gunvolt series is back with Mighty Gunvolt Burst!

The game systems have been completely revamped and powered up with lots of new additions, including the deep character customization system that lets you mold and shape your character into the ultimate hero that works best for you!

The classic pixel style graphics have also been completely redone to blur the line between 8-bit and 16-bit and take you back to the golden age of 2D action games!

Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 and Beck from Mighty No. 9 make their return as playable characters! Find out what happens when their home worlds intertwine in the realm of virtual reality!

The trailer below shows off some of the game’s features such as the Burst Combos, Customization Systems, HD Rumble Features and much more!

The game will release on the Nintendo Switch on June 15th and on the 3DS console on July 12th. Both versions will retail for $9.99 at launch.

About Steve Baltimore

Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.

Nice to see another action side-scroller coming to Switch. The sprite visuals are really nice too!

Wasn’t there a third playable character in the original game?
