Final Fantasy XV is set to get its first round of DLC on December 22nd, just days before Christmas. At the same time as this DLC launches, a new update will also be released for the game. This update will add a New Game+ mode, as well as the ability to add picture frames to your photos. Your photos can then be posted on social media to share your adventures with the world.

The first DLC comes in two packs. First, there is the Final Fantasy XV Holiday Pack (free version), which is available to all players for free. It contains a few goodies, but not all are available when the DLC launches:

  •  Level Stopper
  •  “Complete Annihilation” fanfare
  •  Mog Choco T-shirt and cap (Noctis)
  •  Limited time exclusive Carnival Ticket

The Mog Choco T-Shirt and cap for Noctis in this DLC will not be obtainable until the January update. That of course makes it a bit odd that it is included in this DLC pack. There is also a small amount of overlap between this pack and the 2nd one, which is the Final Fantasy XV Holiday Pack+. This pack can only be obtained by purchasing the Final Fantasy XV Season Pass, which is available for $24.99. The Final Fantasy XV Holiday Pack+ DLC has the following items:

  • Ring of protection
  • Command Booster (Noctis)
  • Phantom Booster (Noctis)
  • “Instant Kill Finish” fanfare
  • “Battle Technique Finish” fanfare
  •  Key of Good Fortune
  • Stamina Anchor (Noctis)
  • Carnival Style (Noctis)
  • Photo frames (Holiday Pack exclusive)
  • Limited time exclusive Carnival Ticket+

Again, some of the items in this pack will not be available until the January update. The carnival style outfit for Noctis, and the photo frames exclusive to this DLC pack will not be obtainable until the late January update. Lastly, you may wonder what’s the difference between the Limited time exclusive Carnival Ticket in the first pack, and the Limited time exclusive Carnival Ticket+ in this pack. According to FinalFantasy.net:

The name of this ticket may differ from the “Limited time exclusive Carnival Ticket” available in the “FFXV Holiday Pack (Free version)”, but the contents are the same.

So why would you name them differently, then? The fact that the one in the paid pack has a + on the end implies it is better in some way. If they are indeed the same, then that would seem to be subtle trickery. Regardless, if you have either of these tickets, you will be able “to participate in the “Mog Choco Carnival” which will occur at the end of January next year”.
