On the official PlayStation blog, Sony announced that game streaming service PlayStation Now will be coming to PC. The app will launch first in Europe, with a North American release following some time afterwards. No release window was given, aside from “soon”.
As a result, a large number of PlayStation-exclusive titles will be available on PC for the first time, such as the Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank and God of War series, up to a grand total of over 400 PS3 games.
On PC, PS Now will require a DualShock 4, similar to Remote Play on PC. The controller is compatible with PC through a USB cable, or with the DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor which Sony announced alongside PlayStation Now, which will allow the controller to be used wirelessly with PC. The adaptor will be available for $24.99 USD when it launches in September.
In the blog post, Sony also announced the recommended system specs for PS Now:
- Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
- 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
- 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
- Sound card; USB port
Sony also notes that PlayStation Now requires at least a 5 Mbps internet connection, and recommends a wired connection.
Use of PS Now requires the player to either rent games for specific periods of time, or purchase a monthly subscription for $20 per month, or $44 for three months.
