Fate Liner 3REI | EP 2 Swords

It’s Wednesday so that means it is time for the new episode of the Fate/kaleid PRIMSA IILYA 3Rei!!. This episode is entitled Encounters and Reunions, and while one might think this would imply that more of the main cast will be making an appearance that is not the case here, but let’s see who showed up instead, shall we?

As we all know the last episode ended with Illya being found by one of the girls that captured Miyu. That’s right the crazy gothic lolita was giving her a look a blood lust for sure. As Illya and Tanaka we’re fleeing things went south and, they we’re eventually cornered. After a short exchange of banter it is revealed that gothic lolita’s name is Beatrice Flowerchild, part of the Ainsworth family. This is the family that has kidnapped Miyu and brought her to this world.

After the girls “Escape” Beatrice, they find themselves at a Ramen shop with a very eccentric owner. They are soon asked to foot the bill for the food they ate when of course they are both very broke. Luckily for them, they run into a familiar face. Yes, Shota Gilgamesh makes his return. This time however he is much nicer then in the previous season, even helping Illya out with her bill. The three soon learn they have a common goal, to deal with the Ainsworth family. They set off the center of the huge crater in this world to rescue Miyu and achieve other goals.

So while there is not a lot of action in this episode they are wasting no time moving the plot forward. I really like that they have worked in some of the crazy humor the spin off series in known for in, even though this is a much darker setting than usual. It is also well known I’m not a big fan of Gilgamesh in general. However, it is a welcome change to see him being a little kinder but kind of a smart ass at the same time.

If you we’re not a fan of last season’s mostly slice of life style you might want to consider picking this back up for this season. So far at least it appears it is gonna be much more serious and filled with the awesome combat that was featured in the first two seasons.
