Hybrid x Heart Episode 1 Review: Climax Whittled by Censor Bars

It has finally begun the first episode of moe-action anime Hybrid x Heart Agias Academy Ataraxia is here! So let’s follow it week-by-week and I’ll post an article review of the episode. Readers can voice their opinions in comments where I’ll hang out and discuss. Sound fun? Okay, let’s go.

Episode 1 is titled: Strategic Defense Academy Ataraxia. We are greeted with a scene of clothed grinding as a war seems to be going on during the act. Although, there’s no mention of this just yet, main protagonist Kizuna Hida has a very special power that came with his “Heart Hybrid Gear”. Not much is explained about these devises or the amount of power that they give, but we are shown that his is unique. While everyone is granted mech suits with extra strength, Hida was given the power to restore, heal, and power-up others. However, to do so he needs to make them orgasm. Fair enough.

We find out that the opening battle seen is a look into the future and we are brought back to present time. Hida is walking onto his new school that he was once thrown out of. It seems the only reason for him being here is his sister, Reiri Hida. Reiri is the principle of the school called Ataraxia. This school is home to Heart Hybrid Gear users. The episode doesn’t give us much time to figure out whats going on, but I feel like it was for good reason. Through flash backs you see that Hida and Reiri have a lot of past drama. Hida appears to be ashamed of his Heart Hybrid Gear. These scenes are very quick with little context and I’m hoping the story expands upon it quickly.

Hida then meets our first heroin, Aine Chidorigafuchi. She’s a smooth talking girl with no shame. Before they could properly meet, the school is attacked. Aine begins to take her clothes off and yell “Zeros”, this is most likely the name of her Heart Hybrid Gear. After giving it her all, and trying to defend the base alone, she is thrown to ground.

Reiri tells Hida that he much rub her breast. This is where it gets a little fuzzy. By that, I mean, censor bars pop up everywhere. Side note, this will be the last time in a review of this show that I bring up the censor bars because it seems like they are here to stay. Hybrid x Heart is currently being aired on TV in Japan so the censor bars seem valid. Usually the BD’s will come uncensored. However, I was still very surprised by the amount of skin and scenes they were allowed to show, but it was very distracting.

Reiri seems to know more about Hida than he does. I feel like she will have all the answers to the questions that I have. This first episode wasn’t meant to disclose any information about this anime other than they are at war. The final scene of the episode is what ultimately will keep you hooked. The world is destroyed and reduced to one small island. Hida could possibly be at the front lines to save the world. All while having some very silly and intense scenes with the cast of characters. I will be more critical of the characters personalities and features in further reviews. I feel like this first episode wasn’t meant to reveal anything but the war and Hida’s special power. I would also like to see more of the battle action scenes that were teased through out the episode. Additionally, I’m curious to see how far Hida will push it with these girls.
