A surprise announcement, a Tokyo Xanadu localization was announced at Aksys’ panel during Anime Expo. The game will be coming out on PlayStation Vita and PC in 2017 in both physical and digital format. We do not have an exact release date yet so stay tuned for more information!

About Justin Guillou

Justin joined Operation Rainfall after visiting the site numerous times and reading the articles on Xenoblade Chronicles. He enjoys searching for and collecting some of the more obscure video games out there.

  • Jonah Rosen

Wait, AKSYS is localizing them game?! I thought XSeed was the go to for Falcom games…I’m not sure how I feel about this.

    • JGuill

Yea I thought it was kind of surprising too. I am actually quite interested in this one.

    • Jonah Rosen

Yeah I really love Falcom’s games, so I’m excited for it. I just hope Aksys puts in as much effort into it as XSeed would’ve if they were doing it.

    • Nathan Wallace

Yeah, I’m with ya. Not too fond of Aksys work either. Hopefully though with more work they start doing better work.

    • Jonah Rosen

I mean, I liked that they did Muramasa Rebirth for Vita, but they are also on and off on their localization work, I guess?

  • j0eeyy_p

It’s good to see this game coming. I’m happy that Falcom also have a new business partner in the industry, thus taking the burden off XSEED.

    Vita physical will be mine!

  • azariosays

The energy in the room was “What the fuck is this game?” and i’m sitting their crying

    • Jonah Rosen

yeah I’ve never played a Xanadu game, but I’m at least aware of the series and I’m excited to play this and XSeed’s release of Xanadu Next.

    • azariosays

Xanadu next looks amazing. Falcom games take a lot of resources. I’m happy to see that Aksys is this committed to these games.

    • Jonah Rosen

Yeah, I just hope that Aksys puts as much care into it as XSeed would.

(Also for Falcom, I REALLY wish they would look into making another Brandish game….)

  • Davos

I’m glad but let’s hope Tokyo Xanadu eX+ for PS4/PC is also coming…

    • Jonah Rosen

Oh man, if Tokyo Xanadu eX+ were to be announced for the PS4, I would just go for that. (Actually, is it just an updated version or a continuation?)

    • Davos

It was declared as a complete version with an after-story, new playable character and more.

    • Jonah Rosen

Oh cool! yeah, I would definitely prefer to get that for PS4 over this version then. I just hope they don’t pull a Tales of Vesperia and give us the inferior version while also screwing us over on having any chance of getting the definitive version.

    • Epilog

As someone who imported this version of the game, i have very mixed feelings about this because i’d rather not give money to an inferior version of it, especially when the ps4 remaster is out way before the english release of the original

    • Jonah Rosen

yeah, I might wait up to a few months after the release of this version for an announcement for eX+ before deciding whether or not to buy this one.

  • Mr0303

It’s a bit weird to just bring this version considering that the enhanced PS4 version is in the works and I’m pretty sure they’ll bring it to the West as well.

    • Zeonis

It is not weird at all to me.

    • Mr0303

      Ok.

    • Zeonis

I know I did not explain my reasoning but basically they will release this for Vita and if it sells well enough they will localize the PS4 version also. Plus it will be much easier to localize the PS4 version with the Vita version already translated.

  • Panpopo

    YES!

  • Mr.TopKek

I feel that Aksys is gonna ruin it, I’m a bit worried honestly

    • Audie Bakerson

Yeah, Aksys has a serious record for “culturalization” bullshit and blocking when people complain.

      Fuck those losers.

    • Steve Baltimore

I’d love to see some example of that this, I hear this a lot, never seen an example of it.

    • JGuill

I’ve been satisfied with their job in Code realize, Tokyo twilight ghost hunters, Moco Moco and Zero escape. if its like those then the game will turn out fine.

    • j0eeyy_p

This is what I believe Audie is referring to.

    • Steve Baltimore

I’m pretty sure they outsourced that game, and I doubt they do that again given the quality.

    • j0eeyy_p

I hope not either, I’m looking forward to all of these games. Period:Cube is already a day one purchase for me and the rest all interest me. Really hope they all get retail in both regions.
