During their panel at Anime Expo, Toonami announced that it will air a five-part micro-series directed by Mamoru Oshii. The series will premiere next year, and each episode is expected to be roughly five minutes in length.
Mamoru Oshii is best known for his work on the original Ghost in the Shell movies and the Patlabor series. This new micro-series will be animated by Production I.G., the same company that worked with Oshii on the Ghost in the Shell films.
This won’t be the first time Toonami, Oshii, and Production I.G. collaborated, as a commercial was aired by the team back in March.
