The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo is finally showing off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the opening moments of the game has been revealed. While story details are being kept under wraps for now, the opening shows Link (who is male and permanently named) being called out by a woman’s voice. This confirms voice-acting is in the game, at least for this segment. After waking up, Link finds himself in a place called the “Chamber of Resurrection,” so one has to wonder what that could mean for the game’s story. Link (who is mostly naked, by the way) finds some clothes in a few scattered chests, and after getting dressed makes his way out of the chamber.

It’s revealed that Link can manually jump for the first time in the series, as well as collect food to restore health, and find sticks that work like swords and makeshift torches. Torches can be used to set certain foliage on fire, and Link is able to jump and climb using the stamina meter, returning from Skyward Sword. After talking to an old man, Link finds an axe that he can use to chomp down some tries to collect apples and bunches of wood. Players are able to explore at their own pace with little story structure or hand-holding. Even things like the opening chest animations have been drastically shortened.

It’s a small taste of what this world has to offer and how you can make your own adventure in this wild new world.
