There is some new information released for E3 on the upcoming sequel, Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2. They have also released an in-game trailer for the action. They have verified that it is still on track for Winter 2016, and they have also stated that it will run at 60 FPS on each system; PS4, XBox One, and PC. Here is the press release, including quite a bit of information.

Press Release

Lyon, France – 13th June, 2016 – Leading interactive entertainment company BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe today revealed at E3 new details on the much awaited DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 for PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC Digital.

Slated for release during winter 2016, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 will be out in time to celebrate the 30th year anniversary of the Dragon Ball franchise. Based on the massive success of the first game, XENOVERSE 2 will be an Action-Fighting game with MMO and RPG elements where players can power-up characters and explore the vast Dragon Ball universe.

As history is being attacked and altered by evil intruders, players will have to become Time Patrollers in order to protect the Past and the Future of the Dragon Ball world. New and powerful foes coming from Dragon Ball movies (such as Slug, with more to be revealed) will do their best to succeed in their wicked deeds. To fight them, Time Patrollers will gather in a huge new city that is 7 times bigger than “Toki Toki City” from the previous game. Conton City is the name of the new main hub where all players can undertake quests, train at school, enter fights, shop and more. On top of a massive city that will allow for up to 300 simultaneous players, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment and DIMPS have implemented new exciting features: including that each playable race will have different rewards for their missions.

Last but not least, it has been confirmed that DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 will have a local versus mode with several environments to duke it out in; and that the will run at 60 fps on all platforms, allowing for a smoother experience with highly animated fights.

About William Haderlie

Born in the 1970's, I've been an avid participant for much of video game history. A lifetime of being the sort of supergeek entrenched in the sciences and mathematics has not curbed my appreciation for the artistry of video games, cinema, and especially literature.

The gameplay is definitely improved from the first Xenoverse. Now let’s see if they rebalanced the Saiyans.

It would be interesting to see if this was a player in the fighting game scene and they had to balance it like a pro fighting game. 🙂

    • Mr0303

I don’t think balancing on that level is possible for the Dragon Ball games. There will always be characters that are more powerful, but maybe the custom ones can have some imposed limits.

I notice they say PC digital instead of Steam at the end of the trailer now. Interesting…
