The story of Phantom Dust continues to get stranger as it was announced on YouTube’s E3 coverage that the original Xbox version of the card battler was getting the remastered treatment for the Xbox One. This title is no stranger to odd announcements during North America’s largest video game conference as a complete reboot was presented at Microsoft’s press event in 2014. But that version of Phantom Dust was delayed indefinitely due to the developers, Darkside Studios, shutting down. Since then there has been no word on the next gen reboot other than Microsoft claiming that they still intend to make the game. Confused yet?

Phantom Dust
More misty than dusty.

The original Xbox version of Phantom Dust was released in 2004 in Japan and 2005 in North America and gained a bit of a cult following. Now this version is being remastered and renewed with additional Xbox live functionality. The game will be a Windows 10/Xbox One title (if you own one, you own the other) and will make use of the Arena features that were detailed in the Microsoft press conference this year. This version will (hopefully) be out in 2017 and just might be Xbox’s answer to delivering one Phantom Dust while letting the other bite said dust.
