The Game Awards

Geoff Keighly has confirmed via Twitter that this year’s Game Awards is set to air on December 1st. This marks the third annual showing for the event formerly known as the VGAs and VGX. Further details will be revealed over the summer. Keighly tweeted a look at the banner now hanging at this year’s E3 2016 show.

The Game Awards has certainly had its ups and downs over the years, but there’s no denying it has grown as an awards show in terms of size and spectacle. Last year’s show had several noteworthy moments including Splatoon winning out Best Multiplayer Game over the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront, Konami getting called out for not allowing Hideo Kojima to accept his reward, and a short tribute of the late Satoru Iwata by NOA president Reggie Fils-AmiĆ©.

I didn’t watch the VGAs and the VGXs before The Game Awards of 2014, no I did not. That aside, I really did enjoy The Game Awards show of 2014. The 2015 one for last year, not so much because it did have some good moments but at the same time, there were some disappointing moments like for example, those idiots from Konami not allowing Kojima to accept an award and whatnot. That’s low and so not fair!

I don’t know what this year will hold but I don’t want to expect too much out of it. Besides, 2016 this year is far from over and video games will always be my number 1 hobby, 2nd behind that is watching anime. Geoff Keighley to me is a mixed bag; not terrible but not that impressive at the same time, just saying. To each their own.
