Severed Skull Battle

Drinkbox Studios, a prolific indie developer from Canada, has announced that their next game, Severed, will be released on April 26 for the PS Vita. It will be $14.99 MSRP but there will be a 10% discount during launch week for PS Plus subscribers. After 2 years in production, this is exciting news for many of us who were highly anticipating this release. Their previous game, Guacamelee, took the gaming world by storm. This title, while it retains many of the artistic aesthetic of the previous game, is a much different game. It is a traditional first person dungeon crawler in many ways, but with some twists, such as using the PS Vita touch screen for attacking and defense, and cutting off monster parts to use for upgrades or to wear. Here is a quote from the Official Playstation Blog announcement.

If you haven’t heard of Severed before, here’s a quick run-down: Severed is a first-person dungeon crawling adventure where you equip the carcasses of your enemies to gain their powers. You play as Sasha, a warrior who wakes up in a surreal fantasy world and sets off on a mission to find the missing members of her family.

Severed was initially planned as a Spring 2015 release, but after showing an early demo of the game at PlayStation Experience in December 2014 we were inspired with a ton of new ideas and decided there was a lot more we wanted to add. It only took a whole extra year, but we’ve finally finished packing in as much as we could into Severed and we’re really happy with how it has turned out.

This is one we are definitely excited for so we will keep you updated on further announcements.
