Wii U

UPDATE: Although Nikkei is often a reliable source for Nintendo hardware news, Nintendo has since denied this statement. According to a Reddit translation of the page, “we plan to continue production into the next fiscal year and beyond.”

We apologize for reporting in haste and hope to clear this up as fast as possible.

The original version of this article is below.

Nikkei has reported that the Nintendo Wii U will end production this year. The companies newest console was released in 2012 making it a very short lived lifespan.

Additionally, some accessories for the Wii U has already had their production stopped and the company plans on removing them from their online store as inventory depletes.

However, it is not confirmed whether the company will release the NX this year, but it is known that it will be revealed.

Due to poor sales and a lacking 3rd party line up, this comes as no surprise. We will keep you updated as more is revealed, but let us know what you think in the comments below.
