Atlus has picked up the publishing rights for another interesting indie game, Daydreamer: Awakened Edition. The game is a 1 player action arcade platformer/shooter that is set to release for PS4 on May 31, 2016 and XBox One June 3, 2016. Other details released are that it will be priced at an affordable $9.99 for each version and it will be rated T by the ESRB. Without further ado, here is the Press Release.

If we had to describe Daydreamer: Awakened Edition in two words it would be “nightmare fuel.” Seriously, Roland Womack — the sole artist/designer/programmer/director/guy-who-does-pretty-much-everything at Roland Studios — has created a uniquely twisted indie game that will power your nightmares for the weeks to come. This side-scrolling platformer/shoot-em-up was originally released for PC, but the Awakened Edition includes major gameplay updates, additions, and tweaks. The Awakened Edition will be coming soon digitally to PlayStation 4 (May 31) and Xbox One (June 3) in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. It’ll retail in the United States for $9.99, and the prices for the other regions will be revealed at a later date.

The game is the story of the last human on Earth who is being kept in a stasis cell by alien invaders as a trophy honoring their conquest of our planet. However, the mysterious, and definitely creepy, Immortal Gate Keeper frees this survivor, Olivia, from her cell and sets her on a quest to the Earth’s core. Getting to the Earth’s core is just part of the problem because the planet is now home to creatures like this:

Fortunately, the daydreamer can rely on an assortment of weapons, abilities, items, and pets to give her a hand. With gameplay inspired by the 8-bit era, and art that’s inspired by… well, only Womack has the answer to that, player’s will shoot, whip, shield, jump, and warp their way to the core in Daydreamer: Awakened Edition.

This looks like a very inventive indie game, so I’m anticipating it’s release. Atlus seems to take care with what indie games they choose to curate and publish. So this has my attention for both their name on it, and also for the inventive visuals. And, I mean, come on… nightmare bunnies that also shoot eye lasers? That is the stuff of Monty Python legend.
