First a Few Special Mentions for Our Audience

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend – PS4, PS3 Digital, Retail

The game, based on the anime, which was based on the manga, that was based on the light novels, that was based on the other games, which was based on history.  Yeah, that looks like it’s in the correct order.  And sounds like it’s right up the alley of several of our people.  The game is an amalgamation between the anime and the musou sub-genre.

Breath of Fire III – PSP Digital (Compatible with PS Vita and PS TV)

Yes, folks, you read that right.  A PSP release in the year 2016.  You just can’t stop that little hand held that could.  But when it comes to a release like this, of the classic Breath of Fire series, then why would you want to.  Making sure that it was compatible with both the Vita and the PS TV was a definite plus and hopefully will allow newer gamers to get into this classic jrpg series.

Firewatch – PS4 Digital

This niche offering from one of Sony’s second party studios has been anticipated for some time now after good showings at the trade conferences.  It is a mystery adventure game that is set in the wilderness of Wyoming during the late 1980s.  Having been there myself at that time, it will be interesting to see if or how it ties into the actual major event that happened there, the Great Yellowstone Forest Fire, and how accurate they are at portraying the environment.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime – PS4 Digital

This is another title that we have been hearing about for quite a while and has had good showings at the trade conferences.  It’s an indie co-op game where you control a large spacecraft that has several panels for shooting and movement and shields and special weapons.  But the trick being that you can only do two things at once, since you are lovers and there are only two of you.  And that you have to move around inside of the large spaceship to reach the panels that you need to activate.  It requires good timing and communication.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – PS4 Digital, Retail

The newest incarnation of the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series arrives this time with a revamped battle system and gorgeous PS4 visuals.  Say what you want about these games, but Bandai-Namco certainly knows what their audience wants.  And gorgeously rendering those famous Naruto fights is right at the top of the list.

Siralim – PS4, PS Vita Digital

That screenshot alone is worth a purchase for many of our audience, myself included. Another dungeon crawler arrives for the PS Vita this week, a niche that has definitely been recognized by developers as being popular on that system. This time it combines the classic style of games like Eye of the Beholder with the monster raising of Pokemon or SMT. There is a lot to love in that prospect.

Unravel – PS4 Digital

An emotional puzzle platformer by a small European developer. This title stars little Yarny and his search through environments in Norther Scandinavia. This seems like one of those emotional roller coaster rides that you are better off knowing as little of the story as possible before you embark on it.  But it is being very well received by most critics.
