The 2015 oprainfall Awards Character Day

It’s Character Day. Which means that we get to celebrate some of our favorite characters from the past year. And we have some fun with it, as exemplified by our next categories. Here to present those are reviewer Phil Schipper.

oprainfall Awards

HOTTEST GUY

Previous Winners:
2012: Dunban (Xenoblade Chronicles)
2013: Professor Sycamore (Pokemon X & Y)
2014: Link (Hyrule Warriors)

Stella Glow Alto

PHIL: With so many cute and sexy women running around Stella Glow, I was a little surprised that Alto was the one to make our “hottest” categories. Then again, a lot of those ladies seem pretty interested in him, so he must be doing something right. Maybe it’s his youthful, seemingly innocent charm? Perhaps he’s used his heart tuning ability on us to get some of the votes. Either way, I’m glad to see him in the rankings.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt | Geralt

Geralt has a lot of names, and being one of the hottest guys in video games is one of them. He has all the mature appeal of an older man — though his hair was whitened by experimentation, not age, he benefits from an extremely long lifespan. His superhuman abilities don’t hurt his case, either. I could go on about what makes him so appealing, but let’s be honest — I can never do so as well as our buddy Tom Tolios does. Seriously, listen to the guy talk about The Witcher 3 some time.

fruit of grisaia 2

  • Yuuji Kazami (The Fruit of Grisaia)

Yuuji Kazami was a powerful assassin for a Japanese agency before deciding to abandon that life, in order to go to a normal school. His cold and calculating habits come with him, making him pretty hard to read, but he means well. The Fruit of Grisaia is a chance to get to know him in way more depth than that, but suffice to say that he’s a cool guy with a nice physique.

Persona 4 Feature Image

We never really do get tired of being Yu Narukami, do we? Starting from the total blank slate that we get to fill in during Persona 4, we were shocked to hear him have so many of his own lines in the Arena games. But by the time we got here, to Dancing All Night, it just felt natural. After all, having so much to say just helps Yu do what he does best: get all the ladies, find more ladies, and get them too.

Metal Gear Solid V Revolver Ocelot

The Metal Gear Solid series spans many years, and Revolver Ocelot is one of the few characters to stick around through nearly every game. That said, everyone’s favorite gunslinger is looking really good in Metal Gear Solid V. While we’ve seen him wizened in several of the games, and as a rather young man in Snake Eater, it’s only now that we finally get a shot of him in his prime.

And the winner is…

Yuuji Kazami | oprainfall Gaming Awards: Hottest Guy of 2015

Yuuji Kazami

Do a quick search for Yuuji here, and you’ll find images pointing out his butt in jeans, animated GIFs of him in the bathtub, and more. That’s pretty much all it takes to show that, as great a showing as those other four guys made, sex appeal is just one area where Yuuji can’t lose.

HOTTEST GAL

Previous Winners:
2012: Syrenne (The Last Story)
2013: Anna (Fire Emblem: Awakening)
2014: Neptune (Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1)

Persona-4-Dancing-All-Night_2015_04-28-15_007

  • Rise Kujikawa (Persona 4: Dancing All Night)

It seems like just yesterday that I first turned on Persona 4 and watched Rise’s little commercial for the first time. Since then, she’s been one of the sexier girls in the series (though even that is argued at times). Although she’s grown a lot as a character in that time, her willingness to show off is as strong as ever, and we don’t mind looking. Keep it up, Rise.

What is Senran Kagura

Katsuragi goes around with her clothes already halfway off in the first place, sexually harassing the other girls of Senran Kagura. With a killer body, sexy tie and seemingly endless blonde hair, she certainly has the looks down too. Everything about Katsuragi is just plain hot.

Moero Chronicles Feature

  • Lilia (Moe Chronicle)

In one of the most ecchi games we’ve covered lately, Moe Chronicle, players defeat enemy monster girls by targeting their clothes. Naturally, that results in a lot of sexual tension, so it’s little wonder that one of the monster girls from that game would make this list. Out of those, our favorite had to be Lilia, one of the hero’s close friends. Her fairy look is almost too bright too look at!

sword art online

Those that made the jump from the first season of Sword Art Online to the second met Sinon early on. She carries over to the games as well, and in Lost Song she’s fully playable. With the cat ears and short shorts, this version of her is probably sexier than her Gun Gale or “real life” forms, and she’s a badass archer to boot. I hear her unusual relationship to guns makes for a pretty interesting background in the anime, too.

The Witcher III Yennefer

  • Yennefer of Vengerberg (The Witcher III: Wild Hunt)

Thought we were done with The Witcher III: Wild Hunt? Think again! Yennefer, Geralt’s long-lost lover, is pretty sexy herself. Though she isn’t actually a witcher, she is a sorceress, and she too has aged well at 94. Also like Geralt, she did some pretty serious training at a young age to get this far, and can kick some serious butt. Notably, she was talked about in the first two Witcher games but hasn’t appeared in person until this entry — and now that she’s here, she can’t be ignored.

AND THE LOVELIEST LADY OF THE YEAR IS…

Katsuragi | oprainfall Gaming Awards: Hottest Gal of 2015

Katsuragi

If you didn’t see a Senran Kagura character coming in this list, you’re probably new around here. It’s a whole world of badass, sexy, clothes-destroying ninjas battling it out in spectacular fashion. It was a tough pick, but we could only go with one character from any particular game. So in the end, the popular vote chose Katsuragi.

Coming up, it’s a battle of heroes and villains.
