Small Screencap Project Diva Future Tone

Hatsune Miku is a big deal in Japan, and the vocaloid singer’s popularity has steadily been growing overseas as well. She and her pals have become a worldwide phenomenon, and in the country of her origin she’s a megastar. She in advertisements and on magazine covers everywhere and is a true sensation.  She even has seasonal events themed around her, such as the annual winter festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido known as Snow Miku. 2016 (which you can learn more about by going here) marks the seventh year of the holiday event, and Sega is going to be giving fans a taste of various Hatsune Miku products as part of the celebration at Snow Miku 2016 on February 6 and 7, such as Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X for the PS Vita and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX for the 3DS (both offering select tracks only). But the most exciting news has to be that people will be able to try out the PS4 version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone, which is the home version of the second Hatsune Miku arcade game. In case you were unaware, Project Diva Arcade Future Tone is the arcade sequel to 2009’s Project Diva Arcade, which itself was an enhanced port of the original Project Diva with updated graphics (think Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero Arcade for the general idea). The showing at Snow Miku 2016 will be a wonderful opportunity for fans to experience the PS4 build of the game in what’s sure to be a festive and lively setting.

I, for one, really love the music in this series and am hoping we get this one in the west.  Sega’s been pretty good with Hatsune Miku releases in North America and Europe, and with the PS4 killing it in console sales worldwide, chances are good we’ll be able to guide Miku to music greatness for ourselves.   Here’s a little taste of the game in case you haven’t checked it out yet.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone is scheduled for release in Japan on the Sony Playstation 4 entertainment console, by Sega and Crypton Future Media. It will be a digital download only, and available to anybody with a Japanese PSN account.
