Metroid: Zero Mission Ridley fight

Nintendo has put a listing up on their website revealing that Metroid: Zero Mission, the 2004 GBA remake of the original NES Metroid, will release on the Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow, on January 14. It joins Metroid Fusion, the original Metroid, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime Trilogy on the system. A description of the game can be found on Nintendo’s listing:

The full story of Samus Aran’s first mission finally unfolds.

Space bounty hunter Samus Aran is sent on a lone mission to infiltrate the fortified planet of Zebes. Traverse through the mazelike base of operations for the Space Pirates, gaining access to powerful upgrades and items for your weapons and suit. Locate Mother Brain, and put a stop to the replication of Metroids!

Metroid: Zero Mission is an enhanced remake of the original, with improved graphics and gameplay as well as the “Zero Mission” epilogue new to this game. You can read oprainfall’s own retro review of it here. The Virtual Console version will sell for $7.99 USD.
