oprainfall is proud to present our annual lists of Most Anticipated Games. Just like last year, we will be publishing one per day as we move closer to 2016. Today, it’s the boss, Steve Baltimore.

It’s time once again for us here at oprainfall to pick our most anticipated games for the upcoming year. 2015 was fantastic year for RPGs and niche gaming in general. 2016 is already shaping up to be as good or better, so the competition to get on this list was fierce. But after much thought and soul searching, here are my top 5 most anticipated games of 2016.

Megadimension Neptunia | Next Purple

Megadimension Neptunia V-II

This entry no is surprise to anyone that knows me or follows me on Twitter. Neptunia is one of my favorite franchises. so getting an all new adventure with better graphics, improved combat, and three different stories to discover makes me very excited. I cannot wait to get my hand on this when it releases in early 2016.

Senran Kagura Estival Versus PS4 | 1

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

With numerous improvements over Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, this will likely be my favorite beat-em-up title of next year. With the addition of new characters, over-the-top finishers, and beautiful 1080p graphics at 60 fps on the PS4, this looks to be the best entry in the series to date. I cannot wait to see what kind of crazy adventure the girls get themselves into next.

Knight of Azure | Yuri

Nights of Azure

I was really excited when Koei Tecmo announced that they would be bringing this title West. I am a huge fan of Gust and this game looks simply amazing. The combat looks fast paced, the soundtrack is simply stellar, and the story of these two girls seems very interesting. If you’ve not seen this one in action yet, I suggest you check out the official announcement trailer.

Kud | Little Busters [Featured Image]

Little Busters! Perfect Edition

To say I was excited when Visual Arts said they would be bringing Little Busters! to Steam would be an understatement. This is the best visual novel I have ever read and I am really happy it is getting an official release so that others can see just how wonderful it really is. Even if you’ve seen the anime adaption, you will want to play this visual novel because it so so much better in every way. The best part is we are getting the Perfect Edition, which is the best one in my opinion.

Persona TGS 2015

Persona 5

This was on last year’s list as well, but it was delayed into 2016. However, the more I see of it, the more I want it. After seeing the trailer, this is only RPG I’ve ever seen where even the menus look sexy. I cannot wait to throw this in my PS4 next year and see just what Atlus has cooked up this time.

And this concludes my top 5 most anticipated games of 2016. What games are you looking forward to next year? Let us know in the comments below.

Steve Baltimore
Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.
