PAX Prime 2015 | Pollen

Pollen | Station

One of my coolest experiences at PAX Prime this year, bar none, was playing the VR experience POLLEN. While I got to try out the basic gameplay mechanics, which revolved around walking around Station M on the Saturnian moon of Titan. You can touch and manipulate anything in your environment manually, and when taken in the context of the Oculus Rift experience, it is something to behold. However, the one thing I had no inkling of was the overall plot of POLLEN. Well, now developer Mindfield Games has revealed some plot elements, as well as some other goodies such as a Greenlight campaign and new trailer.

Pollen | Construction

The world of POLLEN is an alternate reality where Kennedy was never assassinated, and a joint American and Russian venture into space was launched. In the 70s, a permanent space station is being established, and the frontier of space is being pioneered, most notably by Rama Industries. Your job is to investigate a missing technician on Station M.

If POLLEN looks interesting to you, it will be launching on PC in early 2016, with support on HTC Vive, OSVR, Oculus Rift and traditional monitors. It will later be released for PS4 and will be supported by PlayStation VR. If you are curious about the game, take a gander at this cool teaser trailer. Also don’t forget to upvote it on Greenlight if you want to play it on Steam.
