I picked up Pirate Warriors 1 and 2, Puppeteer, and Doki-Doki Universe last night, and I’m thinking about getting Tales of Xillia. I’ve never played a Tales game, and from what I’ve heard it’s a pretty good entry. I’m also considering P4, but it looks darker than I usually like my games to be.

    • Plombo

P4 isn’t really all that dark – it’s actually rather light-hearted much of the time, especially for a Megami Tensei game.

    • Melody

P4 is a good. Plombo is right, it’s quite light hearted. It does have it’s darker moments, but they are few and far between, and the dark moments themselves are fairly tame compared to previous Persona games and the Megami Tensei series in general. People sometimes call it the happiest game about murder. And the game has always given me a Scooby Doo vibe. There’s also a lot of interesting characters and stories. As you get to know the people around you the personas you fuse gain a level bonus. For instance, rank 1 in a social link will give one level to the personas of that arcana type. a rank 2 gets 1 and a half, rank 3 gets two, rank 5 gets 3, rank 7 gets 4 and rank 10 gets 5. In addition to that rank 10 allows you to create a powerful persona of that arcana.

I’ve got persona 4 golden and it’s probably the best way to play it. You can even play it on the tv using the pstv. P4 on the ps3 is still probably a good version though.

I ended up getting it after watching some Youtube reviews. It definitely looks like a lighter game than I thought it was, and it seems almost everyone who plays it considers it one of the best JRPG’s, if not the best JRPG, ever.
