Magical Girl Raising Project 1

Magical Girl Raising Project 8

An announcement on the wraparound jacket band on the newest volume in the Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project) light novel series has revealed that the series has been greenlit for an anime adaptation. No announcement has been made so far about the format of the adaptation, just that it is coming. The light novel series, which started in June 2012, is written by Asari Endou with art by Maruino, and is published by Takarajimasha. The seventh entry, titled Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku JOKERS, was released on August 9, and the eighth and newest volume is called Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku ACES.

The series centers around a social network game called The Magical Girl Raising Project, which allowed roughly one in every 10000 girls to become a powerful magical girl, set apart from normal humans with their magical powers and incredible strength. The project produces more magical girls than intended, so the administration cuts the number down to 16, before announcing that those remaining few will be forced to compete to decide which eight will remain. The competition starts as a race to collect the most “magical candy”, but before long the rules become twisted and corrupted to become a full-on battle for survival between the girls.

The series was adapted into a drama CD in 2014, and featured the following cast:

  • Snow White: Atsumi Tanezaki
  • La Pucelle: Azusa Tadokoro
  • Sleep N: Tomoyo Kurosawa
  • Calamity-Mary: Ayaka Ohashi
  • Prufure: Saori Gotou
  • Shadow Gale: Risa Taneda
  • Lapis Lazuli: Ari Ozawa
  • Die Tick Bell: Rie Murakawa
  • Rain Poe: Momo Asakura
  • Postarie: Nichika Ohmori
  • Fukuroi Masashihana: Rina Hidaka
