The outcry has been amazing from fans of the Fatal Frame franchise to bring the newest entry, Fatal Frame V, physically to North America. We have supported Operation Zero with their campaign to bring fans together. The petition has grown immensely since it’s inception – thank you to those who have signed it. If you haven’t please take the time to do so. We had Operation Zero on our very own Total Control Podcast to talk about their campaign and reasons why Fatal Frame V deserves a physical release.

We ask fans now to join us on September 8th, 2015 and call Nintendo of America to let them know that you would like Fatal Frame V: Maiden of Black Water to get a physical release. The calls will start at 10am EST/7am PST continuing through out the entire day. Please be polite.

Feel free to use this if needed dude. Thank you all for this, you are awesome!

I gotta say, I don’t mean to offend or insult anyone, but I just don’t get it. I appreciated and supported the old movement to get Xenoblade and such, but I feel like this one will just come off as superfluous.

I understand the problems people have with the file size and collectors wanting physicality. I just feel like it’s not nearly as actionable as the old movement. With that, you had (specifically for Xenoblade) an expansive, critically acclaimed game for a system with waning releases that was already translated and just had to be printed on a disk, so people could enjoy it. That’s understandable to anyone.
Not everyone will be supportive when you explain that this is a franchise with historically middling sales in the West, that’s being sold at a discount price, but we want it to have a box because our hard drives are too small and they look nice on our shelves. I phrased in a snobbish manner, but that’s more or less how outsiders (most people who’ve used a phone or computer as their primary gaming platform) view this sort of thing.

At the end of the day, if this is what y’all are passionate about, go for it. If it works then I’ll come back here and congratulate y’all for a job well done. I’m also curious about what others are thinking about it. Do you actually think a physical release is economically viable, or do you just think the fans deserve it, or is there some other motivation? I’m just curious to pick someone’s brain about the topic.

“…but we want it to have a box because our hard drives are too small and they look nice on our shelves.”

This right here honestly is probably the main reason for the petition. Using an external HDD (120gb w/ enclosure is what im using) isn’t all that expensive for tons of space, and at the same time you would now have A LOT more storage for down the road.

I for one used to be a physical only person; however, since digital has become a lot more in the forefront I’ve had no objections to going digital only for most purchases (unless its not offered). I’ll still be playing the same game, and supporting the devs.

I don’t take any issue to what they are trying to accomplish on here either and if its a success then GREAT! Unlike the Xenoblade petition however at least Nintendo announced that the game is coming to NA so at least that’s a start.

Yeah, that’s my stance as well. I just want to have a discussion on it: see what OpZero-ers are thinking.

      As I stated above:

I need this physical release. Some people don’t get it. I understand why though. You don’t think about others. You probably live in a city, high speed internet, have a job or at least aren’t poor.

If we don’t get the disc I won’t get to play it 🙁 I’m a long time fan, been playing since Fatal Frame 1. Thanks to Nintendo I haven’t got to play a Fatal Frame since 3. I don’t have any money, I’m a poor person. If I did save up my money I’d only get to buy the 8 GB Wii U. Which with a 16 GB File size isn’t enough. And even if I did get the 32 GB one. It still wouldn’t matter. I have bad internet and you can’t just be “Get a new/better internet.” I can’t. I live out in the country, in a poor part of my state. The only internet around here have a bad connection or a download limit. I, thank goodness, have a internet with no download limit. But I am just on the edge so my download speed is terrible. Which would mean 16 GB would take weeks to download.

This is why we need a physical release because for some people it’s like getting nothing. I won’t stand for watching a YouTube let’s play of this game. I love the game series and I want to play it. So I will continue to spam Nintendo with #GiveUsTheDisc and call them. I will continue to fight for the game series I love, even if I stand alone.

I know localization can be hard on Nintendo. It takes more than it gives, but I want to play this game. #GiveUsTheDisc
