Fatal Frame V

Nintendo has announced via press email that Fatal Frame 5: Maiden of the Black Water will launch on Wii U in North America on October 22nd for $49.99. The title will be free-to-start allowing players to download and play the first and some of the second chapters for free and then having to buy the game as DLC to unlock the rest.

Fatal Frame V

This news comes after it was announced that the European version of Fatal Frame 5 will be receiving a limited edition physical copy of the game. Maybe it’s time to import a European Wii U because it doesn’t seem like the shortcomings offered by Nintendo of America will be letting up anytime soon.

    Gah, I hate NoA.

    • Edith Reese!

And I hate Isis. See reverse psychology?

  • Keichi Morisato

damn… how big is the game?

    • iamarchaeus

better buy an external hardrive with powersource.

  • Cameron Ward

Seems kind of odd, but then again, the PS3 Siren game kid of did this and no one bat an eye to that game.

    • DarkJokerOfAmuro

because A, the hardrive size was big enough and B. there was still a physical disc XP

Man, being a NA gamer just keeps getting harder by the minute. And supposedly this is the market which drives the industry these days. Not seeing it.

Aw Man, this bites. I am very dissapointed right now, I really am. 🙁
I cannot believe that this game will be “Digital Only” on the Wii U eShop for $49.99.
Not only that, you also need to pay DLC to unlock the rest of the game after playing through the 1st chapter and some of the 2nd ones for free. I guess not everyone can have nice things, including us gamers in North America and what not. I’m feeling really sad right now.

Shortcomings? EShop physical release or not a game’s a game. It’s really smart of NoA to use all resources available to them, since this game probably wouldn’t turn a profit with a physical release. Plus, it’s much rather download a $50 version than hunt down a rare $80 disc.

Good point, man. Good point. Either way, a game is a game and yes I agree with you.
I never played a Fatal Frame game in my life and it really sucks to be me. The 4th game never saw a western release outside Japan aside from fan translations and whatnot. I feel like I should do the same thing to Rhythm Thief on 3DS as getting a hold of the physical copy can be very tricky especially from where I live. I meant getting it digital over physical just so I’m clear. I can only hope that Fatal Frame 5 does not disappoint and who knows, it may or may not get a discounted sale thing or whatever that is but we’ll never know. That would be nice.

an issue is that it’s a 16 gb download. good luck finding space on a standard wiiU for that.

    • DarkJokerOfAmuro

you’re forgetting one thing…..this is being released on a console where the file storage is only 1.25 its size….. we shouldnt have to be forced to get an external hardrive just for one game alone.

a choice that seems NOBODY is happy with.
