Final Fantasy VII

The world is still reeling from Sony’s announcement that Final Fantasy VII will be remade, coming first to PlayStation 4.  So where does that leave last year’s announced FFVII port? Well, it’s still coming. So both versions will be released eventually.

They’ll probably be priced very differently and obviously look different as well. But comments made by director Tetsuya Nomura now have us thinking that the story might also be different as well.

“We’ve announced an HD Port version on the PlayStation 4, and then we have the remake coming to PS4,” Nomura said through a translator. “You’ll have this extremely, very, very pretty FFVII existing on the same plane. We feel that if that happens, it’s like, why have the same exact game?”

Some of the elements in the original release would look weird if Square Enix just straight up remade them, so it makes sense to make some adjustments. Also, remember the game came out in 1997. I’m sure they’d love to make some changes. As to how far they’ll go, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Would you want to see some revisions be made to the story? Or are you a FFVII purist and don’t want them to pull a “Greedo shot first?” The comments are yours, readers.
