The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

Nintendo always pulls surprises out of their sleeves, and this year’s Digital Event was no exception. While we didn’t get any news on the Wii U Zelda title, we did get a completely surprising new 3DS Zelda game called Tri Force Heroes! Slated to release in Fall 2015, this one harkens back to Four Swords but with more focus on story and dungeon solving.

It features multiplayer coop with a brand new totem mechanic, which lets you carry up to two friends on your shoulders to reach higher places and tricky switches. Aonuma said that in testing, they found that a 4 player totem was too tall, which is why they chose three instead.

If you want to play solo, you can make use of doll characters to switch between. The kingdom this title is set in is a very fashion savvy kingdom. You answer the summons of a king looking for a hero, but many others also answer the call. The fashion element comes into play when you collect items to make outfits, which then bestow upon Link new abilities.

Oh and is if that wasn’t enough, it looks to have both online multiplayer as well as local. You can bet I’ll be picking this game up when it launches. Well done, Nintendo.
