At a conference in Tokyo yesterday, Capcom announced two Monster Hunter games coming to the 3DS later this year.

The first announcement was Monster Hunter X (pronounced Monster Hunter Cross), a new game coming this winter. It promises new monsters, areas, moves, super actions, and more. Capcom added that one of their goals with the game is to vary the action so that players can all find their own play style. Monster Hunter X‘s main base town, Beruna, is located at the base of a mountain range; villages from past games will also be available to visit.

The second announcement was Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX, a port of a PlayStation Portable title of the same name. Hitting Japanese shelves on September 10, the game features the series’ felyne sidekicks building and managing a village and embarking on quests. The 3DS version of the game promises crossovers with Nintendo series in the form of DLC costumes. Confirmed series to be featured so far include Mario and Animal Crossing. Additionally, save data for this game will unlock further bonuses in Monster Hunter X.
