Persona 5 | oprainfall

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news on Atlus’s newest installment to the popular Persona franchise, so it’s exciting to finally have information on the game’s upcoming release. For the longest time, the game has simply carried at “2015” release window, but, given that the year is nearly half over now, it would come as no surprise that fans may be starting to get a bit antsy.

In SEGA SAMMY’s recent earnings report, the company revealed that Persona 5 will be hitting store shelves in the end 2015, more specifically, sometime between October and December. While the game isn’t specifically named in the report, reading between the lines a little bit more or less confirms it.

The most pertinent information is one the report’s final page, which you can see below:

Persona 5 | SEGA Financial

As you can see, for Q2 of 2015 (April to September), SEGA plans on releasing four titles domestically in this time frame. These four titles are already known: Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Deluxe (May 28), Stella Glow (June 4), Alien Isolation– PS4/XB1 (June 11) and Persona 4: Dancing All Night (June 25). This would indicate that Persona 5 is one of the games in the full-year forecasts. And, since we already know that the game is planned for a 2015 release, that only leaves the months of October, November or December as the possible months.

Persona 5 | Main CharacterThe North American market is much the same, though with a bit more room for speculation. Here we have nine games planned for release, seven of which we already know: Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX (May 26), Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (Summer), Dungeon Travelers 2 (Summer), Lost Dimension (Summer), Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax (Summer), Stella Glow (TBD) and Legend of Legacy (TBD). While that still leaves us with two games unaccounted for, and Stella Glow and Legend of Legacy not confirmed for a Q2 release, it seems highly unlikely that Persona 5 would see a summer release over here while the Japanese version would be coming out near the end of the year. All signs point to the game hitting store shelves for the holidays (or before, hopefully)!

Of course, this all hinges on the assumption that Persona 5 is still coming out this year and hasn’t been pushed back to 2016. While that is certainly within the realm of possibility, I’d prefer to think happy thoughts. What do you think? Will we be enjoying Persona 5 by year’s end, or is SEGA taking us for a ride? Let us know in the comments.
