Sony has posted four new video previews for NIS America’s forthcoming release The Awakened Fate Ultimatum, the sequel to 2013’s The Guided Fate Paradox. The storyline for this dungeon-delving rogue RPG series centers on your ability to use the divine powers bestowed upon you to shape the destiny of the world and the people in it. The Awakened Fate Ultimatum takes place several years after the first game and, while it is a new story, some attention is given to how events from The Guided Fate Paradox have shaped the world the new protagonist, Shin Kamikaze, finds himself in. The new character previews posted give players a taste of who they can expect to interact with.

Phyllis Izayaoi is a devil who refers to herself in the third-person and seemingly has a cruel streak in her. In the video, it states that her tactical prowess shouldn’t be underestimated just because she looks like a child.

Hien Inugami is Shin’s rival in The Awakened Fate Ultimatum, but the preview states that he is the stronger of the two, even though they are ‘the same type of God.’ Ironically, although a devil, he fights with a sense of honor and detachment and proclaims that he doesn’t let personal feelings interfere with his objectives.

Eri Shiranui is neither angel nor devil, but a human girl who was Shin’s classmate when he suddenly disappeared to assume his holy duties as God. Eri is not afraid to challenge Shin’s new place in the universe and even tells him that he doesn’t have to be bound by his duty if he doesn’t want to be.

Mariel Soraumi is an angel and previously-announced character Jupiel’s older sister. With a strong sense of  duty driving her, she reminds Shin that he has a great task before him and he needs to see the bigger picture. This, she warns him, can lead to making difficult, but necessary choices.

As an added bonus, here are the first two character previews that were released roughly a month ago. They are key figures in Shin’s ascension to godhood. The story begins when Shin is assaulted and Jupiel saves him by bringing him to Ariael, who infuses him with divine powers by shoving the Fate Awakening Crystal into his chest.

First is Ariael Agarie, a scientist who is responsible for Shin acquiring his divine powers. This is an odd paradox considering she also announces she is a devil and reminds him that his role is to forge fate and that he has the power to destroy members of her own species. She seems rather fixated on her studies and experiments.

Jupiel is young, but she takes her role as Shin’s ‘exclusively-assigned angel’ very seriously. She’s unsure of the conflict between heaven and hell, however, and is curious to find out exactly what defines ‘angels’ and ‘devils.’ She also takes great solace in her plush animals.

The Awakened Fate Ultimatum was developed by Nippon Ichi Software for the Sony PlayStation 3 and will be published in the west by NISA. It is scheduled for release on March 17, 2015 in North America and on March 20, 2015 in Europe.
