Xenoblade Chronicles X

Tons of new information has surfaced today about the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X, courtesy of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. The magazine set aside ten pages completely dedicated to coverage of the game, including an interview with the game’s director Tetsuya Takahashi. We got some new information on the world, the characters, and the gameplay.

Here is we know so far directly from the NeoGaf post :

  • Mira is 400km2, which is 5 times the size of Xenoblade’s world
  • Takahashi’s final check play time was over 300 hours
  • “Union” Sound; something like factions for quests
  • There are 8 of them, and you can join any of them, and change them depending on your goal
  • Nagi (Takayuki Sugou): Former Captain of the White Whale and current Military Chief in the Autonomous Government of New Los Angeles
  • Guin (Yuichi Nakamura): Worked in the same division as Elma and Irina on Earth; was their subordinate
  • Many options for player avatar customization
  • Kunihiko Tanaka did the preset avatar designs
  • Some famous voices actors providing their voice as options for the avatar, will be announced on the Xenoblade homepage later
  • GamePad shows character locations, quest locations
  • Warp to previously visited areas on the GamePad
  • The use of ‘X [Cross]’ has implications for the online functionality
  • Not a standard online game, more ‘loosely connected’
  • About 90 songs in the game
  • Xenoblade had 1 vocal song at the end, but Xenoblade X has many vocal songs (many for an RPG)
  • Sawano involved in all aspects of music
  • Battles are faster paced, more-actiony than Xenobalde
  • Differentiates close and distant attacks
  • There will be no healers
  • Healing done with new system called ‘Soul Voice’
  • 4-player party
  • You control 1 character, the AI controls the rest
  • More unique monsters and equipment than Xenoblade
  • Xenoblade was a traditional RPG, whereas Xenoblade X is an open world RPG
  • Xenoblade was linear despite having big world
  • Xenoblade X you will get quests from different places and have more freedom

What do you guys think about this? I know I’m even more pumped for the game after reading this. Let us know what you think though in the comments.

About Colin Malone

Colin has been playing video games since he was very young and is a fan of several genres including RPG, strategy and platformers, among others. He graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in communications and currently writes for Wii U Daily, Operation Rainfall and Inspectioneering Magazine. His long term goal is nothing less than to become the Hunter S. Thompson of games journalism.

  • MusubiKazesaru

All of this stuff sounds awesome. Also, Uchiyama Kouki is the seiyuu I heard voicing the main character in the gameplay trailer.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

We heard the main character’s voice?

    • MusubiKazesaru

Pretty sure he’s the first one that talks in this trailer and that’s Uchiyama Kouki’s voice, unless it’s the other male?

  • Sabrina Nguyen

    -300 hrs for Takahashi
    All my yes.

    -Factions for different goals
    Fuck yes

More awesome monsters, equipment, and freedom.
    Give me this game already!

Literally the only thing I dislike is no healers.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

Personally I found Sharla as the least useful party member in Xenoblade. I almost never use her. In the beginning she had her uses, but eventually it was more about the DPS. Plus there were skills that would heal the party if equipped (chain attacks, criticals). I don’t think a healer is really needed in the game.

  • dubaloseven

Wait, Takahashi doesn’t think Xenoblade is open world? Because just because the main quest is linear does not make the rest of the game linear.

    • goodsideevilside

I think he’s referring to the succession of the areas more than the game itself. Areas in Xenoblade are large, but have mostly one entrance and one exit, almost no detours (apart from “cities”).

  • Taiyaki

I hope they’re not over hyping us here. Sounds way too epic.

  • This game will probably end up devouring my existence.

What I am concerned about is that it won’t be released world wide at the same time like they had seemingly hinted at when they announced the game.

Either way I’m super looking forward to this game. Honestly biggest game of the year for me. Even though Zelda may be big too, but I have this nagging feeling it may fall into 2016. We will see though.

    • Keichi Morisato

they hired at the fact that the game is going to be released in the same year world wide.

  • Joseph

Just add multiplayer and it will be the game of the century.

  • Ben Redenbaugh

This is looking to be more and more of what I expected from Destiny.

    • Ben Redenbaugh

Which is a good thing, I love open world exploration games.
