You know how Nintendo said they weren’t going to bring the New 3DS over until we hit saturation? Well, it appears that we’ve made it. Rumors are making the rounds that GameStop has received the in-store displays for the new handheld iteration. In addition, rates for trade-ins for 3DS and 3DS XL models are rumored to be $75 and $100 respectively.

While we should take this with a grain of salt, there is some validity to it. The trade-in values seem right about where you would expect it. In addition, select European Club Nintendo members have been offered a special Ambassador bundle starting today. Plus, this lines up with a new Nintendo Direct coming this Wednesday, January 14.

So, with the New 3DS appearing to be just around the corner, there is just one question: Is your body ready?

    Well I’m ready for it.

Well, is anyone interested in buying a new imported Japanese 3DS? Seriously, it’s on its way to my house now, I wasn’t expecting this news so soon… Now it’s just going to be a tough wait for a special edition Zelda one.

    • Pyrotek85

We knew it was going to be sooner rather than later, just not before our holiday season was over. They wanted to sell as many of the old models first.

I’m personally expecting a March release, since that seems to be a common release window.

    I’m ready. MH4U ready,

Trade-in is a big problem with Nintendo. You can’t transfer over any digital games you’ve purchased for your 3DS unless you still have it, which limits trade-in viability to those who never download games or are willing to give up games they previously purchased.

I don’t see Nintendo doing anything about this soon, but let anyone here thinking of a trade-in be warned about this pitfall. If the store you’re doing it at has friendly employees, they may let you transfer data from the system you’re trading in, so ask about this if it’s a concern.

    • Jordan It’snoteasybein Green

I know everyone I have talked to about trade ins has said they let you transfer your stuff first, kinda like how Verizon or ATT transfers stuff to your new phone.

    • Infophile

Ah, even better then. (I still think Nintendo’s policy needs work, but at least the stores are doing it right.)

    • Razorfall

Agreed, it looks like you can download all your games attached to your nintendo network ID once you get it associated with your new 3ds, but it looks like a huge hassle to get to that point if you dont’ have the other 3ds.

  • Razorfall

I wonder if we are getting an ambassador edition similar to the UK? Who am I kidding this is NoA we’re talking about.

  • Another_Unknown

Nintendo will offer this trade-ins offers in only a few countries (probably USA, Canada and some countries of Europe, like UK, France and Germany). Plus, with the release of the new 3ds, will be hard to get a good price selling the old one 3ds.
