Valkyria Chronicles

Speculation started to mount early today as a recent PEGI-16 rating by the Pan European Game Information board—Europe’s game ratings board—suggested a PC port of Valkyria Chronicles was coming. Perhaps beating the questions to the punch, Sega quickly announced that the game will indeed be ported to the PC via their twitter, with further details coming soon.

Originally an exclusive tile for the PlayStation 3, released back in 2008 to both critical and fan acclaim, some would even argue worth buying a PS3 alone at the time. Great news for those who haven’t played this gem.

The reason I bought my PS3 heading to PC, ok, hope more people play it this time around.

Interesting. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how many people would buy a PC game with a relatively cute aesthetic. Even though I enjoy and support cute games on computers, I get the impression that only a few other fans are willing to buy them.

For what it’s worth, I bought Valkyria Chronicles 2 right after it was released. I don’t know if more than a handful of fellow English speaking fans bought this PSP game.

Unless it’s Valkyria Chronicles 3, I’m not interested, Sega. I’m not buying the same game again.

    • Infophile

This does mean they’re still interested in the series, so there’s a chance for a port of 2, and then perhaps a translation (and possible port) of 3. Keep your fingers crossed!

    • Thanatos2k

But 2 sucks, so they’re going to get exactly the same response as last time.

“Oh 2, didn’t sell, no 3 for you!”

Sega needs to get a grip and re-discover it’s mojo. This is not the way to do it.

    • Vinicius

Maybe it is, if this version sells well they could give another chance to some more obscure projects, of course this is just my optimism talking.

    • Lord Ackercocke

      Pure optimism

I am very excited for this. I’ve always put this game off because, as much as I like my PS3, there was always something weird about the performance of those early exclusives that made me weary. I’ve heard nothing but good stuff about the game, so I’ll probably pick it up on release.
