Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward

We’ve talked about the upcoming Heavensward expansion for Final Fantasy XIV here on before. Well, several new details were released over the weekend by Square Enix about the expansion at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in London. The new additions to the game include flying mounts, two new beast tribes, and the Dark Knight job.

The two types of flying mounts revealed include a flying black chocobo and single-rider airships, both of which will make it easier to to explore the floating lands that will feature in the expansion. The two new beast tribes that were revealed are the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath. Their primals, Bismarck and Ravana respectively, were revealed as well. Finally, the Dark Knight job will be the first of the new jobs added in this expansion. Dark Knights will serve primarily as tanks and wield two-handed great swords; they’ll primarily use darkness-based actions and unlike the existing jobs in the game, will not involve a base class that evolves into a job.

More details are set to be revealed at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, which is set to take place between December 20 and 21. What do you all think of this? Are you excited? Let us know in the comments!
