Fatal Frame V: Oracle of the Sodden Raven | oprainfall

Some time ago, with the Japanese release of Fatal Frame V: Oracle of the Sodden Raven — or Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko in Japan — back in late September, fans of the series went to Twitter to ask Koei Tecmo if the game would be localized anytime soon. Given the Nico Nico Live broadcasting had English text with the game’s title loosely translated on top of things, some thought it would surely be in the works.

Unfortunately, their response was anything but, stating it was a Japan-only release. In other words, the standard, “There are currently no plans to localize  ___.” Though, they didn’t say it would not get localized or, at the very least, didn’t say it couldn’t be. Do you want to show them in some way that there is interest in the title in Western regions and, while there are risks, show them that it would be in their best interest to localize the latest entry? Sign the petition here, which was started back in June by Operation Zero.

Of course, this will not guarantee anything no matter the number (unless it’s obscenely high), but Koei Tecmo has been on localization spree with their Japanese titles as of late. With their Twitter feed — especially the European-based Twitter feed — being very open with the community and not shy about fan feedback, it wouldn’t hurt to try. So, if you really want to show them you want it, now is the time. But, as a reminder; be nice about it, they’re only human, you know.
