Hyperdimension Neptunia

With the release of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth just around the corner, fellow series fan and fresh oprainfall contributor, Annie Gallagher, and myself decided we would make a list of our favorite special moves in the series.  There are literally a metric ton of moves to choose from, but these were either just so over the top they made us take notice or so funny you just couldn’t help but laugh. So, without further ado, let’s get to our list. We hope you folks enjoy.

*SPOILER WARNING: These could be considered minor spoilers if you haven’t played some of the games in the series. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.*

Here are some of my favorite special moves:

Justice Knife (Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2)

Any skill with Prinnies is cool, right? Well, this skill, performed by NISA, is about as cool as they come. I mean, it’s not enough that she stabbed them with a ton knives. She had to blow them up with that giant Prinny for good measure. *Note: no Prinnies were harmed too bad during the making of this special move.*

Beat Up Combo (Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory)

Peashy has a habit of whomping Neptune out of the blue quite often. This is mostly done with love, but Neptune is caught off guard quite often. Their combo move is no exception to this. Let’s just hope Nep has a soft landing.

Dry Ravine (Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory)

When you get Blanc and twins together in a combo you can bet on total destruction. The twins give this poor soul a frosty reception while Blanc flies down and smashes them to bits. When you add all that to Blanc’s awesome attack line you have one great special move.

Guardian Force (Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory)

When all four of the CPUs combine their powers, you know you’re in for one hell of an attack. The Gals can perform this attack in either their normal forms or the HDD forms. Either way, it is devastating on the enemy and a heck of a lot of fun to watch.

Superior Angels (Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 and Victory)

Not be outdone by their big sisters, the CPU candidates have a massive combo move of their own.

Now let’s head on over to the next page and see what special moves Annie liked.

Steve Baltimore
Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.
