Yo-kai Watch

Well, it didn’t get all the pomp and circumstance you would expect from a new media sensation, but we’re still excited anyway. It was revealed that Yo-kai Watch, the hit RPG series from Level-5, will begin heading west in 2015.

Level-5 President Akihiro Hino had this to say on the efforts to localize the franchise:

We’re aiming for worldwide expansion next year. It’s a Japanese-like fantasy that is sure to appeal. Already, we have support from a major overseas toy maker who, among others, say it will be an absolute success.

So as you can see, it’s not just the games and the anime that are coming over. A partnership has been formed to bring the toys for the franchise over. Level-5 appears to be betting on this becoming a hit in the West as it is in Japan. We’ll have more for you as Yo-kai Watch nears its western debut.
