Hyrule Warriors | Darunia

The hype train for Hyrule Warriors continues roaring down the tracks as Koei Tecmo releases a gameplay trailer showing off the raw power of the dance-loving Goron Chief, Darunia. Along with Sheik and Princess Ruto, Darunia is the newest Ocarina of Time character to be revealed in the Dynasty Warriors spin-off. Check out his explosive debut below:

While I’m quite sure Darunia could simply pound his enemies into the dirt with his powerful fists, it’s interesting that the developers have instead put a weapon that looks suspiciously like the Megaton Hammer in his hands. With it, Darunia performs a variety of area-of-effect attacks to smash and blow away groups of enemies with each swing. Not only that, it seems he can also call in superheated rocks from Death Mountain at his leisure, which he can then slam into his enemies. Most intriguing, though, is that Darunia seems to be able to freely change the size of his body, allowing for ultra-powerful body slams. What implications does this bring up for characters like Biggoron?!

With this, Darunia becomes the first male character aside from Link to get a gameplay trailer in a roster that has so far been inundated with female combatants. I can only assume we’ll be seeing one for Sheik in the near future, as well. What other characters do you think ought to be in Hyrule Warriors? Are you excited to see a playable Goron for the first time since Majora’s Mask? Let us know in the comments!
