HALFWAY THERE

Lacrosse 15 | LAST CALL FOR FUNDING

Lacrosse 15

  • Goal: $75,000
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3; Xbox One, PS4 ($115,000 stretch goal)

From the Indiegogo page:

You can help launch the best Lacrosse Video Game ever created and revolutionize the gaming scene for lacrosse players. You’ll get to beta test the game before it goes on the shelves and create your own player or team.

This is a crowfunding program. How does it work? Together, we make it happen. A financial goal has been set. We have to reach this goal to produce the game. All you need to do is kick in a pledge. The more pledges, the better the chances there are that we’ll reach the goal. If the goal isn’t reached, everyone gets their pledge back and we try again.

Lacrosse 15 is a console sports simulation where authentic lacrosse gameplay, high quality graphics, multi-year dynasty mode, competitive online multiplayer, real-time RPG leveling, and in-depth character customization are seamlessly integrated and delivered over Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. Xbox ONE and PS4 will be included if we can reach our stretch goal of $115k!

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Temporus | oprainfall

Temporus

  • Goal: $20,000
  • Platforms: Steam, Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

Temporus is a two-dimensional adventure game that spans a variety of genres. If you like platformers, side-scrolling shooters, and RPGs, you might find that it’s right up your alley.

The main premise of the game is time travel, but there are also lasers, missiles, and jellyfish. As you advance through the game, you’ll begin to peel back the layers of the rich history surrounding this digital universe. You’ll discover ancient artifacts, see flashbacks of forgotten battles, and learn about primitive technology that could help you save the universe from complete destruction.

There’s also a solid team of artists dedicated to making Temporus more than just another platformer. We want this project to showcase video games as the art form that we believe them to be, which is why it’s essential that we raise the funds to pay our talent. We’re planning to release the game on the PC, Mac, and Linux platforms, and we have high hopes that we’ll eventually publish to the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Xbox One.

GOAL 20,000 AND UNDER

21 Huntsmen

  • Goal: £5,000
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

21 Huntsmen is a metroidvania-esque, action RPG and will support between 2-8 players in online co-operative gameplay. The gameplay itself will combine platforming and close quarters combat across eight unique, but self-contained stages, each of which are designed to be played through multiple times. RPG features include the ability to learn skills unique to each character, upgrade weapons and equip a variety equipment (armour ect). The game will also feature a loot/treasure mechanic designed to give the player character access to new weapons, equipment and single use items for use within the game. If successful our preference would be to release on both PC and home consoles to ensure the quality of the online gameplay.

Although not 8-bit, the game will feature pixelated graphics in direct gameplay. Obviously the games and literature that have inspired this project have a heavy bearing on the art style. If I were to give some examples to make things a bit clearer I would have to say the Gothic artwork from games series such as Castlevania and Dark Souls. Personally I consider Dark Souls to be the best Castlevania game Konami never made. Japanese anime also influences the art style, Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust to name a couple. Books such as the Grimms’ fairy tales and the Tales of the Otori series by Lian Hearn were also something I frequently thought of when conceiving this project. Lastly I feel I must credit the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, not specifically because it will be a direct influence on this project, but just to give my general interpretation of how I feel a high fantasy world should operate in contrast to games such as The Elder Scrolls Series or Dragon Age. So that the occasional influence that may creep in will be derived from the former and not either of the later.

Avalon Galaxy

  • Goal: $10,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

In Fantasy Space Sandbox Adventure explore the universe by jumping, flying, cannon fire, and whatever else there may be, all in a RPG.

In this game you will be exploring a procedural generated universe filled with micro planets, building, collecting resources, and fighting off the mobs. It is a skill based system, you will not have an overall level, but your skills will have levels and lead to other skills. Although there is no leveling system there are a certain number of dungeon planets that you will have to conquer, and this is how you gauge your progress through the game. Along with the main dungeons there will also be many smaller dungeons that you will be able to get upgrades at. Your personal progress will be based on the number of upgrades you get in the game. While you are fighting your way through the dungeons, and searching for more upgrades, you will be able to build a base to call your own. Wether it be a castle or a space ship, or both, it’s up to you.

This game will be available for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Crypt Hunter

  • Goal: £1,500
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

A small short game where you find lost cryptic treasures buried deep within a crypt, having to avoid many obstacles.

I’m a solo individual game publisher and developer trying to bring new games to the world. This project is a game called Crypt Hunter. Its my first game to be released and I hope you can keep us going for many more releases.

This game is an adventure game where you have to find hidden cryptic treasure buried deep within an underground crypt then escape with the gold.

Can you avoid all the obstacles in the way?

Destruction Paper

  • Goal: $5,000
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

Classic Arcade Style Run & Gun action game. Everything is made out of construction paper for PC.

We’re here to deliver an action packed arcade style run and gun shooter.  The game is going to feature visuals made completely out of  construction paper.  I believe the best way to explain the game is to offer a one level demo available from my blog.  The final game will feature 6 levels of action.

Basically the game needs to be balanced, enemy placement, health, and so forth.  The game currently has rapid fire by default but I could easily switch back to needing to mash the button if that would be preferred.

You can check out the demo of Destruction Paper by visiting the Kickstarter page.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Hatch-It! | oprainfall

Hatch-It!

  • Goal: $15,000
  • Platforms: iOS; Android ($20,000 stretch goal); Windows and Mac OS ($40,000); Xbox One ($85,000); PS Vita ($100,000)

From the Kickstarter page:

“Hatch-It!” is a charming and whimsical puzzle game where you must work fast, smart, and creatively as a giant asteroid threatens to forever change the world of the dinosaurs. With prehistoric island backdrops and diverse environments, Dr. Tyrannosaurus, PhD, calls upon his trusty (but rickety) robot companion to find, hatch, and rescue as many dinosaurs as possible. It all depends on you to navigate the danger and overcome numerous challenges as dinosaurs with unique personalities and abilities stand in your way. “Hatch-It!” offers an immersive experience in vibrantly colored landscapes with puzzles based on critical thinking skills while new, thematically-linked elements will be introduced through the different worlds, keeping gameplay fresh and engaging.

In development for almost 12 months, “Hatch-It!” is currently in a playable and stable prototype form on both PC/Mac and iOS that includes many of the important features we want to include in the final game. We wanted to create a game that was fun and approachable, but that also used these puzzle mechanics in unique ways not typically seen in the genre. Lastly, we are including an intriguing narrative to combine some of the story and gameplay elements.

Check out the demo for Hatch-It! on the Kickstarter page.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Hexagone | oprainfall

Hexagone

  • Goal: $2,000
  • Platforms: iOS, Android

From the Kickstarter page:

Hexagone is a real-time action / strategy game for iOS and Android. You control one of up to four differently colored hex factions, and your goal is to eliminate all the opposing colors by overwhelming them with a stream of energy.

Each hex tile generates a steady stream of power. You can direct this power at an adjacent tile to reduce the energy level of that tile. When your power overwhelms the tile, you gain control of it. The more tiles you control, the greater your energy production. This is a game about strategy and force deployment. Develop and deploy your strategy against your opponents!

The concept is simple, but the gameplay possibilities are immense! Different map layouts can create fundamentally different challenges and experiences. Symmetrical maps will test your skills and reflexes. Asymmetrical maps will put different strategies to the test.

Check out the demo of Hexagone on the Kickstarter page.

Princess Pow

  • Goal: $3,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

Princess Pow is a retro-style physics/tower defense RPG about an angry princess and her cheating prince. The gameplay is in the style of Castle Crusher and various other physics games on the web. Games like Castle Crusher are a lot of simple fun, but have mostly lacked deeper gameplay. We wanted to address that and we made a simplified mobile and non-story driven version of it for Android devices. You can find that link here:

WHY THE KICKSTARTER IF IT’S ALREADY ON MOBILE?

We’ve had a number of people ask us if we would make a PC version. We’d love to make a deeper, more traditional RPG PC version. It would be Princess Pow fully realized! However, that takes a lot of time and work. We just released the mobile version a couple days ago, so we are not making any money from that yet. We need some extra funding to keep us going during development of the more traditional gameplay and extra content (San Francisco cost of living is insane!). We are both working on this full time with no income (paying out of our own pocket). So essentially, this is to see how many people want the game on PC badly enough to pre-order. This game is still in development, but very near completion. We can absolutely have it out in July or early August (assuming we get Greenlit quickly). We want to share a deeper and more polished version of the game with Steam and PC/Mac/Linux users. We are aiming to make this an experience that rivals any other indie game in quality and fun. Help fund us the little bit we need to reach the finish line and we will deliver a fun quirky little rpg that you will really enjoy!

You can also help this project by supporting it on Steam Greenlight.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Taken | oprainfall

Taken

  • Goal: $9,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android

From the Kickstarter page:

It’s been 20 years since the governor’s 7 year-old daughter went missing. At first people thought she was abducted, but some believe she got lost in the hedge maze outside the governor’s mansion. 12 policemen have died in the search for the young girl. No one can explain why that maze has claimed so many lives.

Now it’s 1975 and you’re driving through a small town in Missouri. It’s the middle of the night, but you have to reach your hotel in St. Louis. A flat tire forces you to pull over in front of an old abandoned estate. As you get out of the car, you hear a rustling behind you. You glance back just in time to see a bright light disappear into the darkness of a giant hedge maze. Helplessly intrigued, you approach the gate of the maze. Upon entering that garden, you quickly realize this is the maze people spoke about years ago, but by then it’s too late. You’re trapped. You must solve the maze and you must do it quickly, for there is something in that garden that none have ever escaped.

Taken is a horror survival game where you find yourself trapped in a different hedge maze each time you play. Not only must you solve the maze, but you must do it without being detected. There’s a mysterious creature hidden within those walls and if that thing finds you, all is lost. There are three different difficulty levels that will change the size, complexity, and number of moving objects in the maze.

Taken will test your mind with challenging mazes, but the real fun comes from the danger waiting around every corner.

You can also help this project by supporting it on Steam Greenlight.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Tower Tycoon | oprainfall

Tower Tycoon

  • Goal: $12,000
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

What is Tower Tycoon?

Tower Tycoon is a business management and construction simulator that allows the player to create towers with a business of their choice.  Towers can be hotels, apartment complexes, offices, a mall, or even a movie theater.

How is this different?

The big difference between Tower Tycoon and the older games is that it’s modernized – it’s 3D and has individual characters with their own individual needs.

It’ll be modern, have more control options.. such as scheduling elevators, managing staff, controlling flow of foot traffic, setting up shops that will have differing demands at different times of the year, differing demands for hotels on holidays or busy months.

Beyond this, multiple, huge towers can be made in a single instance of a game. This isn’t just about one little tower.

It’s also being developed, unlike older games, so anything that people want added can be added.
