Halfway There $20,000 and Under Goal Reached

Initial Goal Reached

Catlateral Damage

  • Goal: $40,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux (DRM-free, Steam); OUYA; PS4 ($100,000 stretch goal)

From the Kickstarter page:

Catlateral Damage is a first-person destructive cat simulator where you play as a cat on a rampage, knocking as much of your owner’s stuff onto the ground as possible. It’s a highly original, experimental concept that was born out of a game jam last year. Oh, and it’s based on a real-life mischievous cat!

See the world from the perspective of a cat! Like other first-person games, you can walk and look around, jump, and crouch. Unlike other first-person games, your primary weapons are your two cat paws, which you can use to swipe at and knock objects onto the floor.

Catlateral Damage garnered a bit of attention back in January… and lots of people have asked to play a full game with more feline destruction. In fact, the demo was so popular that it was Greenlit on Steam after only 8 days! So now I’m making the full game, which will come out on Steam (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux), OUYA, and as a DRM free download. The anticipated release window is Q4 2014.

A demo for the game is available through the Kickstarter page.

The Impact

This project means a lot to all the members of the team. It is the first game we have made that we actually put on the market. This has been a learning experience all around and hopefully this will be the first of many games to come. By funding our game you are doing a lot more than just buying yourself a fun game. You are making it possible for us to continue doing what we love.

Kaode

  • Goal: €1,550
  • Platforms: PC, mobile

From the Indiegogo page:

The third World War occurred… And at the beginning of the nuclear winter, a group of philantropist and humanists – composed of artists, philosophers, scientists, politicians… – save in particular crystals allowing to stock sensible informations, their memories, ideas, dreams, their plans of objects and workpieces.
Pretty much everything that could represent the memory of humanity, preparing themselves to see their species being eradicated.

Soon, the planet is again silent.

The Kaodian crystals containing the fragments of past life are patiently waiting in their shelters, slowly evolving with time, submitted to Time and the high radioactivity of the planet.

At first, these ideas adjust and take an “organic” shape.
Finally, they end up freeing themselves from their envelops – a cocoon with which they today still have a strong bound – then from their shelters, to now represent the new fauna of the Known World.

Born of ideas contained in crystals to their current form, we call them : the “Kaodes”.

Mathbreakers! | LAST CALL FOR FUNDING

Mathbreakers!

  • Goal: $42,000
  • Platforms: Browser, iOS, Android

From the Kickstarter page:

Mathbreakers is a 3-D math exploration video game where kids experiment with numbers and operations by playing with various toys and puzzles. Adventurers will chop numbers in half with a fractions sword, cast addition spells to zero-out negative enemies, outsmart swarms of spikey integers with keen number sense, save the counting sheep from certain destruction, defeat the evil Numbermancer, and so much more — all with mathematics!

Mathbreakers looks, feels, and plays like the immersive video games that kids already know and love. As one mother put it, “kids are learning without realizing they’re learning, and it becomes part of their subconscious mind.”

The game empowers kids to take control of their own math learning experience. Players are encouraged to experiment and explore the world of numbers around them, without having to worry about making mistakes or getting the “correct” answers right off the bat.

Vacuum

  • Goal: $545
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

Vacuum is an open-ended sandbox game focused on placing you in the commanders shoes of a space station in the not too distant future. Manage a crew of hundreds as you journey throughout the stars. Drawing inspiration from games such as Startopia, Rimworld, and even the Battlestar Galatica television series. Vacuum is my attempt to create a realistic space station crew-management and combat simulator. Some key features of Vacuum include:

  • Ability to have hundreds of unique crew members. Each with their own unique names, backstories, attributes and desires.
  • Protect your crew from the dangers of space! You’ll have to react to asteroid strikes, solar flares, boarding parties of space pirates, fires, mutiny, prison riots, and refugees infected with space-plague.
  • Crew interact with their environments in a true simulation styled game. If a missile rips a hole in the exterior of your ship watch out as crew will be sucked into the Vacuum of space.
  • Face the difficulties of managing an economy where you’re closed off from common resources. Occasional traders and the sparse resources that can be made on your space station are all you have to work with. Your crew will have to get creative, especially as your population increases.
  • Permadeath – You are your Commander. If he dies, game over. Use your crew and crafty techniques utilizing your space station to defend yourself from annihilation.
  • Build a harsh military station that refugees loathe being stuck on or establish a utopia in dead space that fosters a vibrate society.

World End Economica | LAST CALL FOR FUNDING

WORLD END ECONOMiCA

  • Goal: $22,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android

From the Kickstarter page:

Sekai Project and Spicy Tails are teaming up to bring the rest of WORLD END ECONOMiCA to the West. Due to episode 1 of WORLD END ECONOMiCA’s success on Steam, we would like to localize episodes 2 and 3 of the trilogy so fans can enjoy the entire story, but we need your help!

Spicy Tails completed all episodes of this game in 2013, but it has only been available in Japan and for Windows. Spicy Tails would like Sekai Project to provide a complete professional translation of episodes 2 and 3, and release it on Steam for Windows, OS X, and Linux. We’re looking forward to bringing this amazing game to a wider audience!

Written by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice and Wolf, WORLD END ECONOMiCA is a three part visual novel set in the far future on the moon, 16 years after humans have begun to colonize it. A young boy named Haru has been chasing his wildest dream — to stand where no man has stood before. To do so he needs capital… a ludicrous amount of capital. What better place to get that much money than by using the stock market?

And that’s about it for this week. Which of these projects have caught your eye?
